I chose to do my novel project on The Fault In Our Stars. The major characters in this book are Hazel and Augustus. Hazel is a sixteen- year-old cancer patient who loves to read and is very shy but has a great sense of humor. Due to complications with her lungs she is forced to carry around an oxygen tank. Augustus is a seventeen-year-old cancer survivor who also likes to read but is very outgoing. He is about 6’4 and is described as being strikingly good looking. Augustus has a prosthetic leg due to complications with the type of cancer he previously had. One important minor character is Isaac. He is the medium upon which Augustus and Hazel meet. Isaac has a type of eye cancer which has forced him to lose both of his eyes. Also he seems to …show more content…
I think most guys wouldn’t read it because they think this book is a girl book which I totally disagree with. I thought the same thing but this book has probably been one of the best books that I have ever read. So I would definitely recommend it to both guys and girls. Another reason that I like this book is that it keeps you interested throughout the whole thing, This can be good for readers who become bored with books and stop reading them.
One character that I can relate to is Augustus’s father. I can relate to him because I know what it feels like to be in situations where you can’t do anything to help. In his case it would be even worse considering that his son is the person he can’t help. It would be terrible to have to watch your son slowly deteriorate right before your eyes. My experience with this isn’t as bad but all the same it is still a terrible feeling to have.
I think that this book can teach people a lot of things. One thing I think it can teach people is that you should cherish the time you are given because tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. I think that Hazel and Augustus tried to live every day to the fullest. This made me realize that even the days that I consider to be bad maybe aren’t that bad at all. Also it helped be better realize to be more thankful for what I have. This is a valuable lesson to learn in my
