I started with the background color for the top half. Which was an ombre coming from both sides from dark blue which represented sadness to yellow which represented happiness. This would show that both characters were somewhat sad about having cancer, but when Hazel and Gus came together they were happy.
Then in the corner for Hazel I drew two eyes to represent she is observant, and a white ribbon to represent she has lung …show more content…
This shows that family and friends helped support Hazel and Gus through their tough times.
For the bottom right corner I drew the book that was mentioned in the novel which was called An Imperial Affliction. In The Fault in Our Stars Hazel and Gus become obsessed with this book, and Gus even uses his cancer wish to take Hazel with him to Amsterdam to meet the author. I painted the book red to show love and anger which are emotions both Hazel and Gus felt throughout the novel. An Imperial Affliction was mentioned many times throughout the novel and was a main point of the book, so I made sure to include it.
Lastly, in the very middle I wrote the quote “If you want the rainbow, you have to deal with the rain.” I think this quote represents the main idea of the whole book which is obstacles often accompany the joys in life.
