This movie is delivers short scene with quotes that anyone can relate to, and not only for those who are fighting cancer, but these scene and quote can leave one questioning as well being able to take in these advice from the movie to think of the world in a different lens. For example, after leaving out of the support group, Gus and Hazel find themselves side by side as they started short conversations. Hazel gave viewers signs that she was getting interested in Gus, however, after a few minutes pasted, Hazel noticed Gus slowly placing a cigarette between his lips, causing her to freak out and began fussing at Gus about why he would do such dumb thing that will only kill him even more. Little did Hazel know that Gus intention were not what she thought it would be. Gus paused and laughed, he explained to Hazel that it is just a metaphor, “You put the killing thing right between your teeth, but you don’t give it the power to do its killing.” Hazel never noticed that Gus never lit the cigarette. What make this quote powerful is that if one think about any difficult situation in their life, people can use this quote to make the right decision.
