To assess the family, qualitative questions about the Family History were asked. Questions about the problem, family internal functioning, family life cycle, and ecological environment were all included (Collins et al, 2013, p. 249-251). Larry Grape is the oldest child of Albert and Bonnie. Larry moved away after graduation. He is cut off from the family and doesn’t remain in contact. Amy Grape is the oldest daughter of Albert and Bonnie. Amy had a hostile relationship with Bonnie. She prepares the household meals, cleans, and makes sure all household needs are being met. Gilbert is the middle child of the Grape family. Gilbert didn’t have a strong relationship with his mother until her final days. Arnie Grape is the family’s youngest brother. He has just turned 18. Doctor’s didn’t expect Arnie to live much past 10 years old due to his developmental disability. Family Life Cycle History No information is known about how parents met or decisions about children. Family Life Cycle Ellen is the only minor of the family. Gilbert and Amy are doing well with meeting the needs of their family members. Fulfillment of Developmental Roles and Tasks Developmental roles are met for Gilbert and Amy. It is a struggle for Arnie to meet his Developmental Roles. School helps with meeting Ellen’s. Mechanisms for Resolving Developmental Crises The family is usually good with conversation when it comes to resolving crises. However, Ellen tends to argue points she disagrees with. Critical Events and Disruptions The children’s father committed suicide 17 years ago, which was hard on them.
