I think the families are to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet. If the families were not in a feud, they could have just been together without being secretive about their relationship. Juliet took the potion only so she could act dead and run away with Romeo. Romeo only killed himself because he was unaware it was just a way for them to be together.
