The United States, “The most powerful and dominant nation in the world” (p. 2) may seem as though it is perfect and invincible, but has endured numerous trying times on its mission to accomplish its manifest destiny. We see how the decisions of our formers presidents have affected its citizens and we are able to perceive how government has changed today. People came from all over the world in an effort to find a better life. This is essentially like a big bowl of people being mixed together in America. This concept however, fails to be true. One of the things that got me thinking that I have not thought of before is how people say that the U.S. is this great country of different cultures, yet we spend so much time trying to keep people out. Look at some of what our new President has planned for our country. Of all the many issues to focus on, building a wall to keep immigrants out seems to be a top priority.
