Pretty much up until the last paragraph in the tale, the assumed theme/morals are that one’s materialistic possessions are quite unimportant when it comes to saving the life of another, and you will ultimately be rewarded for your selflessness – a karmic moral similar to that in the original tale of The Little Mermaid. However, once the reader encounters the last paragraph, there is a very sudden change in the message. It goes from a relatively simple message reminding people that there are more important things than your worldly possessions to something a lot deeper. It more so becomes a commentary on karma – no matter what one does, even if they think it is the right thing, it may not be and that is not something we can tell until future events. So even though Flora and Fauna were able to save the Princess from her eternal sleep, they have ultimately created something that could become much worse than just one Princess sleeping forever. This is unfortunate, but it happens in everyday life all the time. No one knows what the right choice is until after they have already made one. While a lot has been changed in this tale, there are quite a few elements that remained in the tale from the original Sleeping Beauty tales. This tale kept the same wording to open the tale, although it changed the phrase to end the story. There are still good characters and bad characters, even though the specific characters may have changed. There is also, of course, still royalty and magic in it in essentially the same form as the original tales. In most of these cases, the general elements remain, they have just been altered to fit the path of the new
