The Oklahoma Right to Farm Amendment, State Question 777 was on the November 8, 2016, ballot in Oklahoma as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was defeated. A "yes" vote supported amending the state constitution to include the right to farm and ranch. I think that State Question should've passed, it would of allowed farmers to defend themselves against unjust laws that would harm the industry. It would of also protected all farmers and ranchers in Oklahoma, including small, urban, organic, and hobby farmers, allowing consumers to have access to a wide range of locally grown food choices.…
A Progressive can be defined as a person or group applying social reform or new, profuse ideas. The first progressive president, Theodore Roosevelt, had a very positive impact by transforming the United States into a more modern country and all around a greater country. Roosevelt was one of the most influential people that ever ran the Unites States. This ambitious leader balanced the interests of business, consumer, and laborer. He helped to better America as a country by mainly passing laws that improved working conditions, food and drug companies, and even the environment.…
In Arturo Warmans book Corn and Capitalism: How a Botanical Bastard Grew to Global Dominance, he discusses the slave trade from the old world to the new world and how it affected the economy. Slave trade brought over many new crops to the new world along with many diseases, people of the America was not immune to. Africa was the main source of human labor and European countries like Portugal, dominated in the number of African slaves they were transporting. When Warman compared the both the new world and old world, we are able to depict exactly how different both sides of the continents are. For example, when the people from the old world came, they brought over diseases the people of the Americas were not immune to which causes many deaths.…

American reformers think of themselves as progressive, in fact this was the period that became what was known as the progressive era. With the word progressivism we outline a body of social thought that is not entirely coherent to do with dealing with the process of industrialization in the United States. Its not quite socialism or capitalism its stands right in between the two. The Progressive movement is the whole political idea that tries to gather certain facts behind specific policies which falls under progressivism. There are a couple propositions that would have to be kept in mind when you think about the Unites States and the Progressive Era.…

The farmers ' migration was against their wish, but actually it was the only way to escape from the surrounded conditions and the high authority which the landowners used in order to degrade the Joads family and the farmers in Oklahoma. Accordingly, they were forced to go west searching for job opportunities in order to fulfill their humble requirements of their simple life to live as free human beings not as slaves who were always oppressed to satisfy the needs of those who are unkind towards them. The landowners and the bankers try to humiliate the poor farmers with no reason or a clear justification rather than being driven by their social prejudice and arrogance. Although the farmers decided to survive and migrate…
In Food, Farming, and Freedom, Rami Zurayk touches on several issues involving food production and consumption in the Middle East. These include the increased westernization of the local diet; European and American domination of the market, even within Middle Eastern countries; government policies that favor the comparative advantage model; the Israeli occupation of Palestine and its effects on food production; gastrodiplomacy; deruralization and the dissolution of ties to the land; and the increasing elite status of local and terroir products. Another issue Rami Zurayk touches on is the progressive “westernization” of Lebanon’s food habits and the resulting diseases. Where once the Lebanese population ate Lebanese cuisine- which is considered healthy and has life-prolonging benefits- people increasingly eat meat and fried foods. Obesity and cardiovascular disease have become major killers in Lebanon (Zurayk 29).…
