From a young age, children are expected to know what they want to be when they grow up. They are a budding generation of princesses, astronauts, firefighters, and presidents. It doesn’t matter that they have no royal lineage or that the chances of becoming President are exceedingly rare, especially if they are Canadian. Adults allow them to create these dreams because it gives them a motivation, a forward pull in life. It is through this ritual that children learn the meaning of ambition. They get used to the idea of goals and strive to achieve them. However, ambition can be dangerous under certain circumstances. It can quickly become an obsession that causes damage. It is important to know when to sacrifice goals for the sake of morality. When an individual spreads fear and manipulation, they run the risk of forever damaging those they crush on their way to the top.
