One of the most important aspects of our development as human beings is our interaction with other individuals. The way in which we socialize with others is influenced by our emotions and feelings. People interact more with friends, neighbors, and family depending on how they feel when they are around. Some of the positive emotions, we might refer to as affection, care, and love. However, this process become more complex when we start thinking about the concept of romantic love towards a partner and what makes it different from the love we feel for our family members, friends, etc. In the article, “Experiences of falling in love: Investigating culture, ethnicity, gender, and speed” the researchers Suzanne Riela, Geraldine Rodriguez, Arthur Aron, Xiaomeng Xu, and Bianca P. Acevedo investigated the influential factors of the development of romantic love. When we talk about love, we may agree that “love is one of the uniquely human emotions,” (Matsumoto & Juang, 2013). Love can help in the process of finding a mate and thus contribute to the reproduction of the human species. However, this emotion might be interpreted in different ways across cultures (Matsumoto & Juang, 2013). In the article mentioned before, the researchers wanted to investigate 12 precursors that are thought to lead to falling in love.
