The 1860 election was the fist point that led to the civil war because not everyone was happy with his presidency. It caused many states to secede from the Union. It also made conflict between the Democratic party, the Constitutional Unionists, and the Republican party. When Abraham Lincoln was elected as president it caused regional differences that divided the nation.

Another main point that led to the civil war was Abraham Lincoln's inauguration because when he took over many people disagreed with him. This caused even more conflict between the regions and it caused Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Delaware, Maryland, and Arkansas to consider seceding from the Union. The states had not yet seceded, but their decisions
