In order for domestic or international violence to be considered terrorism, certain qualifications must be met. Recorded on Encyclopedia.com, the basic definition of terrorism can be described as follows, “…[a] politically motivated violence, for which organizations are directly or indirectly responsible, that is intended to weaken the will of the opposition by using random targeting to spread the fear of victimization” (Turk). Within the span of fifteen years the world has witnessed many vicious attacks that shook the very foundation of the targeted country. Not one attack is the same, although the same outcome is produced; the death of civilians and the broken hearts of their families. In Israel, from the year 2000 to 2014, an estimated one-thousand, two hundred and sixty nine people were causalities resulting from radical Palestine terrorists. Unfortunately this is obviously not an isolated incident. Terrorist history within the UK, Malaysia, Israel, and America has created a growing fear and as a result, each of these countries stands on the ‘War Against Terror’ policy. First, the UK has a goal to ‘Prevent’ people from joining radical groups. This includes giving advice to people who might become radical, efforts to bring awareness in education and other sectors like criminal justice or faith, and the corporation with local authorities in order to exercise the Prevent strategy. The second goal is described as “The purpose of Pursue is to stop terrorist attacks in this country and against our interests overseas. This means detecting and investigating threats at the earliest stage, disrupting terrorist activity […] and, wherever possible, prosecuting those responsible”. When prosecuting terrorists, the United Kingdom promises to deport the criminals whenever possible depending on if the criminal is a citizen or a foreign national. The third goal is to ‘Prepare’ for violent attacks and if unavoidable, alleviate the pain felt by the country by managing the consequences that comes with such emergencies. This includes enhancing emergency responders with the equipment to respond to any given situations and work together efficiently. Labeled ‘Protect’, the fourth and final goal is self-explanatory.
