Black Men and Public Space is telling of the hardship of a black men. As Staples discusses what happened to him in the public, “My first victim was a woman-white, well dressed, probably in her late twenties. I came upon her late on evening on a deserted street in Hyde Park, a relatively affluent neighborhood in an otherwise mean, impoverished section of Chicago” (112). The lady ran away quickly and disappeared into a cross street. Indeed, the black men was confused about why the lady ran away because he never tried to do something to hurt the lady, but the lady was scared about what he would do. The lady may not run, if he were a white young men. In her mind, she would agree that black man was following her, and she was staying in dangerous.
