“Proud traditions, sparking ambitions.” That was the saying for FFA this past year. While that 4-word phrase may seem just like a catchy phrase or a good theme to have, when we take a step back and examine those 4 words, we realize that it has been vivid throughout our history, in FFA, 4-H, agriculture, and throughout the world. People throughout our history, even though they may not realize it, have been running with this idea. This phrase has been summing up the actions of some of our greatest leaders and helping people change the world every day. Some people may look at this phrase and question what the true meaning is. Tiffany spoke about in the FFA Creed were and I always responded with two things. I said that we could keep agriculture going by standing true to the traditions of advocating and involvement. The thing I didn’t say however, was the fact that these two had to work together before any sustainability would happen. I think that we are safe to say that our agriculture involvement is good. With 629,367 FFA members alone , we can say that there are at least that many enrolled in agriculture classes. Mine started with “The FFA Creed by E.M. Tiffany” as many others have also started. I found my tradition by participating in the Creed contest. I realized that I wanted to be a part of FFA and of agriculture when I realized the difference that it had made in my family, and it sparked an ambition in me to do things such as participate in the National Creed contest, or represent my school for agriculture, and so much more.
