In May of 2008 polar bears joined the long list of “threatened species in the U.S under the Endangered Species Act” ("Polar Bear | Species | WWF," 2015). According to the World Wide life organization, there are only between 20,000-25,000 polar bears left in the world, and their extinction risk is vulnerable. This means polar bears face a high risk of going extinct in the wild ("Polar Bear | Species | WWF," 2015). If greenhouse gases continue to increase and get worse in the atmosphere, polar bears will go from being vulnerable to endangered or extinct in the wild very quickly. Greenhouse gases do play a major part in the survival of polar bears, but because of those gases humans play a small part as well.
