Love is such a strong word used in our society today. By definition it means a feeling of deep intense affection. This definition is actual seen as a noun which is what most people see love as. Love can be used to describe either a person or an object, but is the noun version of love the best way to describe it? I believe love as a verb would serve as a stronger and more desirable meaning. Anyone can have love for someone else but that love is never really felt. Love as a noun can be giving to anyone by anybody. You don’t actually have to love someone to give them your love. It’s basically a word that can be thrown around but never or barely have actual meaning. In order for a person to truly feel love, they have to be able to love someone or something and have someone love them. Love as a verb is an action and like the old saying goes, “actions speak louder than words.” In Hooks book All About Love she has her own opinion on love as a noun and a verb. Just like her I too believe that love should be used as a verb. These concepts being care, affection, recognition, respect, commitment, trust, and honest and open communication (Hooks 5). Without combining all of these, one cannot love or be loved by someone else. In all honesty, you can care, respect, and be honest to anyone separately, but that doesn’t mean you love them. Each one of these play a different role into how someone accepts being loved or loving someone. An example of this is a baby according to hooks. A baby feels loved because they receive all of these concepts from an early age. And since they cannot communicate, they need people to show them all of these in order to be able to love back. This example can relate to so many people in the world
