Personal Narrative: My Experience With A Greek God

While typing this out I am sitting on a beautiful beach somewhere in Greece along the Aegean Sea. It 's easy to imagine scenes from the Odyssey or the Apostle Paul sailing up to bring the Good News. The view is one people would spend thousands of dollars to see but I get it for free. I am stranded in Greece - oh, woe is me . How did I end up camping on the beach in Greece? Let me tell you about the goodness of God during the last three months:

Three months ago I was given the opportunity to teach English in Turkey. I was able to sell my car within a week, blessed with a buddy pass and was on my way. I stopped in Israel on my way to Turkey and it always amazes me the opportunities God gives us. On the shuttle ride I met an American

When I arrived she had another woman with her who spoke very little English but she 'd brought her because she said the woman was angry at God and she wanted her to meet someone who knew God. I 'd been hoping for a quiet nerdy history day but Holy Spirit had other plans. At one point in the museum, our guest asked "What is that I feel? It makes me feel funny." I have encountered the feeling before in places like the British parliament and other places of authority. I told her it was authority and power. Later as we were leaving, she turned to me and said she didn 't mean to offend me but she just thought that Jesus was a nice story and didn 't know if she believed He is real. I so love Jesus, He is so faithful! I was able to tell her that He knew her doubts and fears and gave her a prophetic word from the Lord. Love so overwhelmed her that she began to weep and from that day has continued to seek out her Savior.

Another time I was attempting to teach a business English course but the guys just wanted to talk about Jesus. I overheard one of the men repeating "Jesus Christ" so I asked him why he was doing that. He smiled and said, "Jesus Christ. There 's just something about that name. I like saying it and the way it makes me

When she dives into the story she is completely non-religious and doesn’t pay a lot of mind to the faithful practices of the family, but they eventually become unavoidable. It seems as though the whole family is oozing bible passages. Her first major experience with this is the Hopkins Jesus statue where people pray before they enter the hospital. She says it was “the closest I’ve ever come to praying.” She witnessed Deborah praying and noticed the positive effect it had on her.…

Give examples of how the practice of ministry has affected your experience and understanding of A) God At the core of my understanding of God is a God of love in covenantal relationship with God’s children. Romans 8:38-39 says it well; “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The practice of ministry has only proven to strengthen that belief. I was called early Saturday morning to sit with a family who had just learned of the death of their daughter/granddaughter in a vehicle accident.…

She merely needed a reminder, as many of us do from time to time, that the Lord was aware of her and her contribution to the progression of His work. It was because of the faith that she had showed from the beginning that the Lord rewarded her for her discipleship by allowing her the privilege of becoming a witness of the reality of the…

How does one become “immortal”? To answer that you’d have to pick a definition of immortal. For me that definition is to be remembered for many years to come, most likely not by millions of people, but by a few. In reading the Epic of Gilgamesh something dawned on me, what would I want to be remembered for if I died today? Seeing as I’ve never truly considered it, it took me a good while to determine the things I would want to be written into the history books for.…

What she told me was she is climbing the same mountain and falling that same mountain, so I told her nnot to be discouraged and to keep climbing that mountain and she will eventually make it to the top. Her favorite scripture is 1 John 2:28 which says, And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his…

The Spirit was still strong on me, and before we started eating I 737 began prophesying over Reuben and Barbara. Then I ministered to and prophesied over Barbara 738 alone. There was something that I didn’t know was troubling her heart, and the Lord ministered to 739 her. She began crying and she was ministered to by the Word of the Lord. 740 After dinner, we went to the school/chapel to have prayer, and after a few minutes, I told Reuben 741 that the Spirit of God was still stirring in me, and the Lord wanted to say some things.…

The Greeks used the Greek Gods to explain many different things in ancient history. The gods were used to explain natural events, feelings, and anything else that there was no explanation for. Some people even believed that some of the gods and goddesses were actually kings, queens, and warriors but the stories tell them as gods and goddesses. No matter who they were, they dealt with the recurring themes of love, suffering and struggle. There were gods for the sky, earth, sun and many more.…
