The visions of individuals have interrelated with the expansion of exponential growth. Over phases of time, the apparition of the past, has been implemented to exponential growth in current days. These commencements have affected the world in both positive and negative way. As mankind become more cultivated, the mind has become capacious to allow many things to happen, such as genetic modification, nanotechnology, and transhumanism. It’s abundant that society has evolved into this form of capabilities, the question is when do we realize we’ve gone too far? Human population, technology, finical, education, surveillance, etc. are all examples of exponential growth. These measures were first introduced in 1973, in generating bacteria and genetic modification to mice in 1974. Twenty years later GM food was being sold and consumed by the citizens. Nowadays genetic engineering techniques has amplified into numerous fields including research, agriculture, industrial biotechnology, and medicine. In medicine, scientist is headed towards the ability to alter births, enhance peoples lives by changing DNA that causes birth defects. This area of discussion has elevated in personal opinions of the chance to live a healthier life and others view it as playing God, with the ability to program human beings. Being established in 1959, physicist Richard Feynman described a “process in which scientists would be able to manipulate and control individual atoms and molecules” (Feynman) a decade later in 1981 the development of the scanning tunneling microscope was built. As mentioned nanotechnology is utilized in many fields, in the medical arena this knowledge is focusing on anti-cancer drugs targeted directly to tumors, minimizing drug damage to other parts of the body. “Others help medical imaging tools, like MRIs and CAT scans, work better and more safely. Nanotechnology is helping scientists make our homes, cars, and businesses more energy-efficient through new fuel cells, batteries, and solar panels. It is also helping to find ways to purify drinking water and to detect and clean up environmental waste and damage.”
Analogous to genetic modifications, and nanotechnology, transhumanism has also become an up rise. "Transhumanism is an international intellectual and cultural movement supporting the use of science and technology to improve human mental and physical characteristics and capacities. The movement regards aspects of the human condition, such as disability, suffering, disease, aging, and involuntary death as unnecessary and undesirable.
