The Existence Of Doppelgangers

Our world is filled with so many unexplained phenomena, ones we don’t even question as they happen. Déjà vu, dreaming, and even any paranormal activity, we dismiss as either impossible or so much part of our daily lives that they don’t even matter. But how do we know for sure that none of these occurrences actually affect our daily lives? Some of the paranormal phenomenon that we usually brush off may actually play a huge part in our lives, without us knowing. Doppelgangers, a concept that doesn’t even cross most people’s minds, may actually be very much prevalent in our world even now. Throughout our history, there have been many cases and sightings of doppelgangers, that haven’t really been looked into very much. The original German word is doppelgänger, coming from the phrase which means “double-goer”, and is “steeped in the world of the strange and supernatural.” (Mysterious Universe) Another subset, in Gothic literature, explains how doppelgängers are not two different people, but just one person, whose one dominant personality hides a darker side, which makes them their own doppelgangers. This explanation mostly explains how humans have two sides to them constantly fighting for the spotlight until one actually shows itself, which is an interesting philosophical view on it. Mostly scientists focus on the difference between fraternal and identical twins and how identical twins tend to be drawn towards similar environments, even when raised far apart, without any knowledge of actually having a twin.
