Gender Roles In Canada

Gender roles did not necessarily begin with what is a man’s job and what is a job for a woman, it went off of more on how each gender was built. A man would typically have more strength and possibly stamina than a women making it easier for him to do plowing and other heavy lifting or duty tasks. While a woman would just work on whatever else there was to do such as laundry or sewing, it would have been easier for a woman to sew instead of a man because they had smaller fingers where has men had larger strong hands making outside work easier for him to do. It was not seen as what is manly and unmanly or what is woman’s work it was just seen as who was built better for what tasks. There are many people that you hear saying how they are going to move to Canada after November because they are afraid of what our soon to be new president will bring and do to our country. I personally have not been keeping up with the election this time around, but I have seen a few things on the internet and each candidate has both their pros and their cons. In my opinion I do not look at man verses woman or republican verse democrat but who is the better candidate that I would want, or rather in this case have over their opponent, to run the country for the next four or eight years, but let’s hope it will only be …show more content…

Others might do something crazy like actually look that what each candidate is for and against and base their decision. On who would be a better fit for running the country instead of looking at sex, or past, or who is nicer in person, but that may not happen very often when it is a man against a woman in the race for

Introduction As a woman, I know that there is an expectation from other women and men alike that I have to and must vote for Hilary Clinton for president. However, I respectfully have chosen another candidate that I feel exceeds qualifications to be our next president. I believe in a candidate who stands for justice, equality, and has been a civil rights activist since a very young age. I know as a young adult myself how incredibly hard it is to not only stand up for yourself but to consistently stand up for those who would otherwise not be seen or heard. Our country though advanced is still politically behind other advanced nations, it’s time that we have a political revolution that will help us move forward as a whole.…

In Canada Women’s right has been improved enormously. After WWII due to their participation in war, women were starting to be treated more fairly than before, but not equally as men. There were many factors that oppressed women in their daily life. Since the 1950s, many individuals and groups of women’s fought to improve women equal rights and attempt to involve in social, environmental and political roles equivalent to men. In the last 60 years, Canada has taken steps to improve women’s right; introducing the equal pay for equal work Act, allowing women to participate and have a high position in politics, and one of the biggest steps Canada has taken to improve women’s right is included equal treatment for men and women in The Charter Rights and Freedom.…

Canadian identity, when clarifying its development in women’s issues, it had changed positively during the 1930s to 1940s once Canadian women were legally allowed to join military services. Since the start of Canada in 1867 gender segregation was clear, women were not given the attention they deserved, they were often the underdogs in many situations. They were not given certain jobs due to the fact they were women. Plenty of women being given the stereotype of being unable to do the “mens jobs”.…

Women in Canadian politics: Challenges that continue to matter for all Canadian women voices The recent 2015 elections set record highs for Canadian women politicians. The 2015 federal election beat the record for the most female candidates in a single election, and the Alberta 2015 general election resulted in the closest a governing party has ever come to obtaining gender parity with 25 women and 28 men elected as members of the ruling NDP (Women in Canadian politics, 2018). Alberta’s Premier, Rachel Notley, has appointed a cabinet with equal representation from women and male politicians, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also has appointed a fully gender balanced Cabinet, and women make up 47.5% of the appointed Senate (Women, 2018). In Canada Women are still not considered equal to men in the work place, this can be seen through unequal pay, disparity between genders in high-income occupations and the prevalence of sexual harassment in the workplace. The private sector is especially unequal in all of these respects while the public sector still maintains a significant inequality in pay especially. It is also true that women are not as involved in Unions in the private sector, and still under equal participation in the public sector. Women in the workforce have always been more vulnerable to unequal treatment, and as a woman I feel that it is important to recognize what has shaped the current female workforce, and to understand that we still have a long way to go in the…

The idea of gender roles is a construct of society. Throughout the existence of the human race, the genders have been expected to do two very different tasks in order to uphold society. There was generally no deviation from the roles, however, in modern society, it is no longer necessary for the genders to stick strictly to their expected jobs. A woman, as opposed to a man, can now be the supporter of the house. A man, as opposed to the woman, can now raise the family and care for the children.…
