The invention of the tracked tractor has evolved over the years the first track system dates back to 1770 when they were called the continuous track. Over the years companies have adopted the track tractor design that was first established by Caterpillar. There have been many changes to every companies track style tractors I am going to focus more on two tractors the John Deere 9630T and a Cat 865E they have many differences such as motor, purpose of company, track system, etc. They actually have a few similarities such as their PTO, cab autosteer, etc.

John Deere is the world's leading agriculture equipment manufacturer offering all the tools that a farmer needs, while Caterpillar has offered the best in class construction equipment that has built the infrastructure for many countries in our world. With John Deere leading in agriculture and Caterpillar leading in construction, we have to get a better understanding on why Cat even had tractors. They were first designed to pull dirt scrapers that would never be unhooked and were used to move dirt where many of the worlds interstates, highways, waterways, buildings etc have been built.I asked myself how do we use Cat tractors on our farm if they were a construction based company? With that being said we have to go back to 2002 to notice the difference between the companies origins of business, when Challenger corporation bought out Caterpillar for their tractor side of business. Starting with the job they can both accomplish, both tractors can pull implements with their drawbar, and 3-point style attachments. With some implements requiring different field speeds the tractors have to be in the right gear to meet that requirement and in the cab the operator shifts both tractors the same way called shuttle shifting where you can shift the tractor one gear at a time up or down. With today's farm sizes both tractors have the autosteer option which is a very good tool for a farmer to have where the tractor can guide itself straight on an angle that you choose powered by a satellite signal. An operator is going to want a comfortable cab to sit in for hours at a time, so another similarity is that they both have climate controlled air and heat, and they both have a satellite radio option and leather
