However, hospice nurses in Oregon do not like the Death with Dignity Act and some refuse to talk about to their patients because they don’t want to see them die that way. When a patient asks in hospice that they want to go through euthanasia they bring in a doctor that is available to commit the suicide on the patient. The hospice nurses usually do not do anything with euthanasia because it is not part of their job description. Patients are to asked the nurses if they want assisted suicide and when death option are given like, if being connected to life-support it is up to the patient. Hospice has four principals when a patient asks for euthanasia. “(1) use different language to describe the act of a hospice patient obtaining a physician 's prescription to end life; (2) provide different degrees of information in response to patients ' questions or requests regarding physician-assisted death; (3) engage in different levels of notifying the patient 's attending physician who will write the prescription (a physician invariably different from the hospice medical director); and (4) present different views of whether hospice staff may be present prior to and during the ingestion of life-ending medication.” Campbell, Courtney S. With many controversies with it, it may never be fully legal in the world. The terminally ill go through so much pain that it should be allowed for them, only, to end their lives. The loss of dignity is not worth what family members to go through and may bring more sorrow to them having assisted suicide. Just imagining being in the shoes of a terminally ill person it would be hard to know that the time is coming to die. As doctors are making better medicine hopefully these deadly diseases go away, but until then it should be a right to the patients to end it on their terms. Shown on polls mostly everywhere, citizens believe that the assisted suicide for terminally ill should be allowed. Euthanasia may be quite controversial, but a patient who has rights in the United States, should have this right regardless of what others

The patients, who will eventually die from their disease, deserve the option to die where they want and when they want. Terminally ill patients are moving from one state to another so they receive a certain drug that will eventually take their lives. In my opinion, I think this offer should not only be offered to terminally ill patients but those who are suffering from a mental illness that changes who they are. Patients with certain illnesses should be able to end their suffering through physician assisted suicide.…

This method is usually used for patients who have incurable diseases and would rather have a painless death than, over a long period of time, suffer. Euthanasia even traces back to as far as the ancient Greeks and Romans in 5th Century B.C. Although prohibited, many physicians gave poisons to their patients anyways. Drawing back to present time, only a handful of countries and U.S. states allow the act .…

Physician assisted suicide is already legal in one state, and there are seven other states that imply a death with dignity statute. According to the New England Journal of Medicine, more than 4,000 doctors across the United States have approved of the assisted suicide law ("The Right to Die”). (“Death with Dignity Around the U.S.”). The law allows terminally ill patients who have been given six months or less to live and wish to hasten their deaths to obtain medication prescribed by two doctors. The most important thing to notice is that this law does not include those who have been on a life support system nor does it include those who have not voluntarily asked physicians to help them commit suicide.…

Although some people do still disagree with it, those people are not required to receive assisted suicide. It is a choice that they have the right to deny it, it should be a right people are able to choose. The only solution to this problem is to initiate a change for physician assisted suicide legalized everywhere. People must notice how many lives are destroyed by terminal illnesses.…

When it is a question between seeking expensive long term treatment or ending one’s suffering altogether, assisted suicide, Death with Dignity, gives someone a choice whether or not to end their life. Death with Dignity refers to a person’s legal right to end one’s life. This “solution” to pain and suffering is often frowned upon for various reasons in many religions and by specific individuals such as doctors, nurses, and family members. Despite these objections, death with dignity should be legal throughout the United States because it gives people a chance to decide what is best for themselves, it costs a lot less money than a long-term treatment, and it ends their suffering.…

The word euthanasia derives from greek origins that translates to ‘good death’. The Merriam Webster dictionary defines euthanasia as the act or practice of killing or permitting the death of hopelessly sick or injured individuals in a relatively painless way for reasons of mercy. The controversy surrounding euthanasia stems from whether an individual with a disability is able to make the choice to put an end to their life. It is difficult to establish whether the individual has a rational state of mind. Philosophical theories of morality and rationality can be applied to an individual’s right to death with dignity.…
