The Cotter side of the family has always been independent and a do it yourself kind of family. Even when my dad was a little boy, he would go out and kill their dinner. Once, when my dad was younger, he was at his grandparents house and his grandmother said “Jeff, go get us somethin’ to fry.” Of course my dad said “How many?” like it was no big deal. She then replied with “Two will be plenty.” He went out and killed two squirrels real quick. When he came back to the house, his grandmother was outside waiting on him. He said “Grandma, I’m going to put the gun and shells up and I’ll be right back to clean them.” he wasn't gone but two minutes and when he came back she had already cleaned them and had them in a pan of water ready to cook them. I guess you can say my family knows how to get some dinner. Not only do we know how to hunt, but we know how to pull pranks and be sarcastic with each other. When my grandma was little, her first dollar was a dollar well earned. Her Uncle Otto had been fishing and had a big stringer of channel catfish and asked my grandmother to help him with the line. She grabbed the line and he stopped and said”I bet you a dollar you can't walk straight to me.” Of course she said “sure I can, nothing to it.” he said “Close your eyes and walk to me.” she closed her eyes and started walking towards him, he took a step back so there was a cow pile between them. Yes, she stepped right
