Is Stem Cell Research Good Or Bad

Could scientific advancements such as stem cell research cure all of the world’s deemingly incurable diseases? This highly speculated theory can’t be pursued as much as desired, due to stem cell research being deemed ‘immoral’. Although Morals and ethics are an important part of science, there are several possible advancements science could make if said morals were voided; Such as stem cell research, more specific knowledge of the human body, and even overall human health.

One of the the most controversial and possibly beneficial topic involving morals in science is stem cell research. Stem cell research could be a very viable addition to the advancement of human health. Stem cell research could possibly treat a large range of medical problems, and could even possibly cure a number of diseases. Science should always be dedicated to the advancement of human health. Francis Bacon, the philosopher who was driven solely by “a natural curiosity and inquisitive appetite (Levin)” believed science is for the conservation of health and solely that. So should a society really protest and limit the advancements that could be made just because they are slightly “immoral”? Science is neutral and should be directed towards advancement, no matter the barrier that would stop it. Journalist, Yuvan Levin stated, “The notion that science is neutral is also widely held and advanced by scientists. Indeed, many scientists wear their neutrality as a badge of honor, presenting themselves as servants of truth who merely supply society with facts and tools” (Levin). In the wild it’s the most well adapted species that get to pass on their genes and evolve, and in the wild there are not any ethical restraints on animals to do exactly that -- evolve. So why should humans be the ones to limit
