A professional in this field would be expected to adhere to the code of ethics to prevent situations that may put a consumer in harms way. In other words, if that professional were to attempt to help increase sales for the sake of the company’s profit by providing misleading information about a given food’s ingredients or nutritional value, that professional would not only be violating a code of ethics or losing consumer trust but also, possibly, endangering life.
