Abortion is one of the serious controversial ethical dilemma issues in the subject of ethics and philosophy. Abortion is the act of stopping the unborn infant from being born. The right of unborn infant, the right of mother, the right of the father, the human responsibility of life and life related issues …are some of the central elements of the abortion ethical dilemma. This short written assignment will attempt to present the views of three well known ethical theories, consequential ethical theory, duty ethical theory and virtual ethics theory, to decide whether abortion should be performed or not.

From the perspective of the consequential ethical theory, the issue that is related to abortion is the end result. If the end result is more valuable to the majority of the party involved in this act of moral dilemma, abortion will be permitted and advocated to be performed. For the consequential ethicist, unlike the virtue ethicist and duty ethicist, what matters is the benefit or the advantage that will be brought by the action must exceed the pain, the harm or the disadvantage. If this ethical act has more favorable advantage, it is the right action of morality (Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy).Thus, abortion should be accepted and performed in light of its pain and harm that might happen to the unborn infant or to the mother or to the father since these issue are less favorable. …show more content…
