Food production systems are sets of related activities that generate food products for human utilization, and are characterized by the components of land, work, capital, innovation, and the market and non-advertise establishments overseeing their distribution. The production system is based on ethical framework but now in United States the framework of food production system is unethical. The food production system is morally not correct as there are many defects in the system which are leading many people to lead an unhealthy life due to food waste. Many poor people and their families in the United states are dying due to starvation and malnutrition, which is due to food waste as everybody is wasting it in the process of consumption. In the American families if there is a leftover and it is not expired, it goes straight to garbage instead of giving it to people in need. In addition, the food banks or the businesses who donates food are donating it properly as Harold McClarty (the owner of HMC Farms) said “there is an economy avenue to move the food from food bank too, it is a lot cheaper to throw food away.” This is morally incorrect due to this many people are suffering from hunger as said by Elizabeth Royte “nearly 800 million people worldwide suffer from hunger.” According to ethical duty framework, it is our duty to take care of poor people. Poor people are also human organisms they are same as we are. We should donate the unexpired food which is not in our use to people who are in need of it. It is stated by the Natural resources defenses council,” On average, diners leave 17 percent of meals uneaten and 55 percent of these potential leftovers are not taken home” and “Americans are throwing out the equivalent of $165 billion each year.” As mentioned, if we use these potential leftovers as donation and the other food which is wasted to poor people.
