However, as simple and easy as that may seem, mistakes and accidents still occur. There is no fool proof or 100% guaranteed methods of contraceptive that will prevent pregnancies. A woman should be presented all options and alternatives if she does not wish to continue with the pregnancy. We must help her acquire the best medical care and assistance needed with the procedure. As well as help provide her with the best assistance if needed after the procedure. The sooner the abortion is done in the earliest weeks of pregnancy, the less developed the fetus would be. As a society, we have a moral duty to stand by the women’s choice no matter how immoral or moral we feel that choice is. The decision to act morally or immorally is on the individual, not on us to judge the action. A woman has free will and choice over her body so therefore, should be able to make the decision without feeling shunned or deemed by society. As a society, we must respect that the final decision to abort or not to abort is up to the…

With this given, I would strongly support a woman’s right to do an abortion under certain circumstance of rape or unplanned pregnancy. Although it is mentioned that, “Every person has a right to life. So the fetus has a right to life.” (Thomson, J.), it cannot be morally wrong to commit murder towards the fetus if the mother is doing an act of self defense in this case to save her own life. Thomson states that a fetus has a right to life at the moment of conception (Thomson, J.) but thoroughly explains how the fetus cannot overweigh the pregnant woman’s right of life so therefore, it does not begin at the moment of…

While abortion is not forbidden, the woman seeking an abortion must consult with a rabbi who is qualified to give advice on the matter of abortion. Abortion is allowed—even encouraged—when the mother’s life is at risk. The limitations on this, however, are that the risk to the mother must be substantial and that the abortion cannot happen in late stages of the pregnancy. If she has life-threatening difficulty in childbirth, then an abortion is permissible until the head or another part of the unborn child leaves the mother’s body. If continuing the pregnancy would drive the mother to suicide, then an abortion is allowed. In cases of rape or incest, abortion is allowed when the mother is suffering from distress severe enough to put her in danger. Another instance for abortion in cases of rape or incest is if the fetus is actively threatening the life of the mother. Abortion of a deformed fetus is typically not allowed, but if a fetus has a fatal birth defect, then some rabbis would allow an abortion. Jewish law takes a categorical approach to determining when an abortion would be…

One setback for making a general law, is that there are many scenarios to take into consideration when deciding if abortion is the best decision or not and how to make a more specific law to cover most situations. The subject of abortion is difficult to discuss due to strong emotions and differing thoughts and opinions, but it still needs to be reviewed to work out the problems including: the lack of training and education given to medical professionals, the legal points compared to the realistic points of the law, and if there will be any exceptions to the law. These factors need to be analyzed because it is not right to have an abortion for the wrong reasons and kill an innocent life. Ultimately it is the mother’s choice; however, it is not right to take the life of a child who did not get the option or the opportunity to give their input in the matter, when it is the child’s…

The holy scripture, which is the blueprint of Christianity, speaks against any form of murder. God values all forms of life, and according to the Bible, human life begins at conception. The book of Jeremiah 1:5 states that, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” This verse and others buttress the point that human life starts right away, therefore termination of pregnancy at any point of gestation is murder.…

Mahatma Gandhi, one of the most respectful Hindu preeminent leaders, truly believed abortion should be considered a crime. Hinduism strongly opposes abortion as its religious books compare it to killing a priest, who are given a lot of respect by Hindu’s as they assist in the worship of the deities. Some of their religious texts also state that women who terminate pregnancy will lose their caste. Hence, Hindu culture emphasizes on the production of off springs as they believe it’s a public duty instead of a personal choice. Another religion that opposes abortion is Islam. Islam believes that the unborn have rights too. As women argue that they have the right to make decisions about their lives, Islam believes the child also has rights like the right of protection and the right of life. The Quran, the Holy book of Islam, states that abortion is not allowed under any conditions because human life is considered sacred. If for some reason a woman aborts a child, she must pay Diyah (blood money). Diyah is a traditional compensation that women would be responsible to pay. In pre Islam, the Diyah for taking a life was 10-she- camels. This number was increased to 100. The Diyah for unintentional killing must be paid in gold as Islam believes that the severest punishment should be given to the…

Preservation of life is one of the primary objectives of the Islamic Divine Law (maqasid al-shari’ah). Besides preservation of life, Islamic shari’ah also aims to preserve religion, intellect, honour (family lineage) and property. Conducts and behaviours that are deemed to violate these aims are prohibited, while conducts that are set to achieve these aims are considered morally right. In this case, since abortion involves the termination of life, it is considered as immoral; thus the general perspective of Islam about abortion is as not permissible unless it is done to save the mother’s life, which should be carried out before the ensoulment takes place (Aramesh, 2007). The Muslim scholars had achieved a consensus in the prohibition of abortion after the ensoulment takes place (Ahmad Muhammad Husni, Abdul Basir Mohammad, Amir Husin Mohd Nor, Hayatullah Laluddin, & Mohd Al Adib Samuri, 2013). However, a dispute among scholars regarding at which stage the abortion should be…

The definition of an abortion is the process of ending a woman’s pregnancy by the termination of an embryo or fetus inside the mother’s womb (Pros and Cons Abortion). During the process of an abortion, the unborn child is not treated as a human being. The baby is treated as a nuisance; it is not given the proper care, it is regarded as a nonliving thing (Abortion Facts). Abortion is not the only method to take when a mother is confused by her feelings about the pregnancy for how her pregnancy came about (Arguments about Abortion). There is no reason to punish a child when they have no control of what is going on in the world around them. It is not the baby’s fault if a pregnancy was accidental or unexpected. Abortion should be illegal no matter…

The abortion dispute inquires whether it should be ethically permissible to terminate a pregnancy before traditional delivery. Multitudes of people in our society today have made the decision to end their pregnancy due to very logical personal reasons. I believe that in certain circumstances, abortion is an optimistic option. While many people believe that abortion is a sin, I choose to have an open mind on the idea that abortion is sometimes the only option for many people. In cases of rape, lack of sex education and abuse, abortion should be legal in efforts to give these people a chance for their future. People should take in consideration the circumstances and…

Abortion is a very controversial topic. It refers to the termination of pregnancy by removing the fetus from a mother’s womb. Abortion laws are different in each state. Proponents of abortion argue that every woman has the right to abort her pregnancy and a fetus is not a human until it is born. However, people should remember that life begins as soon as the baby is conceived so aborting a fetus means murdering a baby. Church also preaches against abortion and calls it murder. Since life begins in the womb, therefore women should avoid abortion because abortion is like murder and it has also has harmful consequences on the women’s health and society in general.…
