Envision fleeing from a brutal, rising superpower in the midst of humanity's greatest war in a time where bloodshed has become a casual commodity and is ever extant. Some of the experiences that one could imagine in such a hypothetical situation include, but are not limited to, having their uterus shot while being pregnant, concealing themselves in their own homes to avoid being executed, and getting shot at by a Russian torpedo while boarding the only vessel to well-being. These fictitious but ominous situations are daily routine to the 4 central characters of Salt to the Sea as they close the final chapters in their escape from the squalid regimes of Stalin and Hitler. As the aftermath of the attack comes to an end, Joana and Florian find out that Emilia had died and that her child is still healthy. The two then embark on a romantic relationship and live happy lives by taking custody of Halinka, the son of Emilia, and settling back into Denmark as a married couple. Salt to the Sea, in result, takes on a sweet ending with a minuscule hint of a bitter taste. The same, however, can not be said for Paul Garrison’s Buried at Sea. A suspenseful and content novel, the story takes on the viewpoint of Jim Leighton as he assumes the role of a deckhand and personal trainer on one of the planet’s most prestigious cruises. Belonging to the world-renowned tycoon Will Sparks, the Hustle at first appears to be nothing more than a luxurious yacht that is heading towards Brazil via the Atlantic ocean. Despite this initial setting, however, the atmosphere of the story changes rapidly as Sparks finds out that there are various belligerents of Spark’s existence that want him dead, including one of Will’s former girlfriend in Africa and the infamous McVay
