The Erasers: A Narrative Fiction

Angel had been curled into a ball, sitting on a pile of rubble; her face and wings were covered with ash and must. She was crying- no, she was stronger than this. No normal eight year-old had survived the end of the world. Well none that she knew of. She knew she had to find Max and the others; she had to be with her family and live the happy life Jeb had promised them. Max was supposed to save the world, but how was she supposed to do so? She didn’t hit the genetic lottery like her. Though a little cocky, she didn’t have the ability to see the future, read minds or sense heat close by. No, she had to find her. Just then everything went blank; Angel was dazed and her eyeballs rolled back, like her eyes just went white. She was having another …show more content…
I had never been that far away from the dreaded school. Faster, you’re almost there, I thought, as the distance between the Erasers and I grew at a very slow pace. Was it just my luck? There was a cliff approaching too fast, and I skidded to a halt at the end. You know? like in a cartoon. Finally looking back, I saw the Erasers closing the gap between us, “there is no point in resisting. You’re trapped; nowhere to run now, little piggie!” I gave him a devil like smile and I turned around and said, “that’s what you think!” I fell forward as the wind was rushing through my hair. If only I could stay like this forever; freedom and nothing around me. But I knew that I had friends to take care of. I unfurled my wings, feeling the power surging out of the them, then back in. Higher and higher, I flew. The voices of the Erasers were dimming by the second, and I had been at my highest peak. I flew away from that horrid place, then bolted upwards, panting. It was just that dream again. I got out of bed, letting the warmth that once infiltrating my body was now a cold icicle stabbing through all of me. Our place was nice; it was big and cozy and felt like a real home. We had even had a real fake dad, Jeb Batchelder. I walked into the kitchen, looking for leftovers we could eat. We had been low on food and I had been hoping that something like food fairies existed. “What’s for breakfast?” …show more content…
How did I get here- What time is it?! MY HEAD IS POUNDING AND IT’S HARD TO BREATHE! Fang got up and he looked out the window. Is it morning already? How long have I been sleeping? He started to head towards the living room, but found no one in sight. He went around the whole house searching but he couldn’t find anyone! Where the hell is everyone? He had looked everywhere but there was no sign of anyone. He went back to the kitchen and opened the fridge and took out some expired milk. He closed the door and noticed a note on the refrigerator; Fang, we went to scavenge for food, if you wake up and see this, we are on the hill that is about 3 miles from the house -Max. So that’s where they had went. Fang rushed to the door, quickly opening it and jumping off from the cliff that held their house. He waited about 5 seconds before he sprung his pitch black raven-like wings and he flapped. Since he had a very good sense of direction he had no trouble finding the hill. When he got there, there was no one there. He had searched around looking for baskets or anything that showed him signs of his family, until he found something. Crap! He picked up the blue flannel bow and he stared at

It was a bright sunny Saturday morning, waking up hearing the birds chirping outside. The sun was shining through the windows throughout the house. I can remember sitting in the living room in a tan recliner facing the Tv. When I heard the phone ring the first time, it was around ten o’clock in the morning; I looked over to see my mom running to the home phone that used to sit on the desk in the laundry room. It rang three times before my mom answered.…

The air was crisp; dew dripped off of the freshly mowed lawn. A slight breeze swung me softly side to side. There I was, on the ragged concrete steps, leaning morosely aside the brick pillar. It was a beautiful day, but the atmosphere surrounding me was miserable. Impatiently tapping my foot, I looked up and down the street to see if my friends were near.…

All the blood my heart was pumping it was going directly my ears and during that moment, I did not know what to expect and all I could think was about how to make it through this day. I never asked for any of this. I left friends and my family behind to start a new life, an opportunity for education that I did not have in my hometown of Bani in the Dominican Republic. I was still in shock, preparing myself mentally while my sister put her coat on before getting on the bus. When we arrived in William H. Ohrenberger Elementary, we were introduced to the principal and my first thought was: “Oh my god, my nightmare will start at this moment”.…

Moreover, racism that my family faced in North Carolina was topic of all time, in my family there are still wounds that haven’t been healed since they moved in late 80’s from seeking political asylum from the civil war. I didn't wanted to hear more stories of injustice, suffering and cursing of the U.S. I wanted to give up on reality. I quickly slammed the book on my nightstand and refused to open it. I will always keep the memory in me about the first day of school. I closed my eyes and I started dreaming about the character of the book and myself inside the story .…

It had been a few weeks since your parents died in a tragic plane crash, though you didn’t feel all that sad. Of course, you were slightly upset, but it wasn’t that bad. Your parents had never really built an emotional bond with you. They were more like dictators, they forced you to be the three P’s: posh, proper, and polite. When you wanted to play outside with the other kids, they shook their head in distaste, your mother telling you that’s not what ladies do.…

We sat on the hot metal of the bleachers outside of the baseball field. The rainy days of Spring were replaced with the sweltering heat of the Summer, and hearing the clink of a baseball hit a bat in the Summer had become a tradition for almost five years. My older brother Dakota had spent those years being bombarded by sweat, mud, and the encouragement of his family, friends, and coaches when the team needed to hit a ball or when he wanted to show off how much better he had gotten since the last season. We were all ready for the season to be over so that we could plan our almost yearly trip to Virginia to visit our Aunt, Uncle, and our almost overwhelming blue-eyed cousins, Liam and Carlile. When the baseball season had come to a happy--or sad--ending, we would plan the trip and be piling into the car within the next week or two, to go on the getaway…

Hello Mr.Sass, this is Estela. I’m emailing you because I need to explain to you why I was late to class. It was another normal day, and as I was getting ready I noticed that some of my things were disappearing out of nowhere. As I walked into the bathroom to go brush my teeth, my toothpaste was gone, I went to go change out of my pajamas and my clothes I had picked out the night before were gone. At the end of every high school year there is always an evil, beastly force standing between the students and glorious summer break; the final exam. A final exam is supposed to test one’s knowledge of the information taught throughout the year. Having these two hour test stacked back to back can only lead to high levels of stress. Without going into details, I am not the most proactive student. I am basically the person who won’t start a project until the day before it’s due or will be up late at night doing homework because I decided that three hours of Netflix was what I needed after school.…

The bus ride of noisy classmates made it hard to think of anything positive about my life as the heavy weight, large bus driver hit every bump or pothole in broken concrete roads.
