Beowulf fights numerous creatures of fantasy and each battle revolves around different motives and reasoning. His first battle is what starts it all. His battle versus Grendel, an evil demon who has been tormenting Hrothgar and his village for many years. His next most notable battle is against Grendel’s mother, a nasty demon who attacks the Geats after she catches word of her son’s death. Finally his third and last battle against the toughest creature he meets, a dragon, who pillages a town after noticing some of his precious treasure has been stolen. All of these battles make Beowulf who he is and creates a hero persona for him throughout the land. His first major battle is his fight against Grendel, an evil demon who’s been tormenting the Geats for the previous 12 years. Beowulf arrives in Heorot, the mead hall of Hrothgar and announces that he will find and kill Grendel and save the Geats. The King is skeptical at first but once he hears of Beowulf’s accomplishments and his god like strength, he agrees to send him to battle Grendel. Beowulf takes a sword from the mead hall, a sword that is supposed to never fail and was at one time used by giants. Beowulf left the mead hall and set out to find the evil Demon. Grendel shows up to Herot and tears the door open. As Beowulf observers Grendel’s attacks, Grendel reaches for Beowulf but is immediately stopped by the god like strength of Beowulf. Grendel is taken back by the hero: Beowulf grabs the arm of Grendel and summons…
