With the rapid economic development and social environment, people consume natural resources at a faster pace and the negative effect on the nature is becoming more and more severe. Environmental issues, such as air pollution, water pollution, decreasing biodiversity, and deforestation have become prominent in many regions of China. In recent years, haze has become a popular term among Chinese people, especially in north China. The environmental problems can be harmful to residents, animals, and plants. For example, water pollution can cause many healthy problems, such as dysentery, metal poisoning and air pollution leads to respiratory diseases. Friends of Nature is a non-profit and non-governmental organization which was established in the 1990s in Beijing, China (Friends of Nature, 2010). The aim of the social organization is to raise people’s awareness of environmental protection and encourage more people to take part in their activities. In recent years, the organization mainly focuses on dealing with environmental problems in urban ears and it wants to build sustainable and hospitable cities through reducing urban waste, improving the existing transportation system, and environmental education. So far, it has established more than 10 branches in Wuhan, Guangzhou, Nanjing, and many other cities. Apart from organizing social activities, Friends of Nature also engages in environmental lawsuits.
