To be Enlightened, you must be exposed to something you have never been exposed to before. Whether it is an entire race of people or a new idea. As discussed in Cross-Cultural Encounters of the Enlightenment, “the eighteenth-century voyages of exploration were the first to be centrally concerned with the gathering of information about man and the natural world” (Outram, 553). Explorations were about gathering information about things people have never been exposed to before. We are Enlightened when a news story comes out that’s told from three different perspectives. We are Enlightened when there is a new way to treat a disease. We are also Enlightened when we find new ways to age successfully. If we have a moment in time where we are not being Enlightened, then we are failing as a society. Being Enlightened helps us grow. It gives us something to give to future generations. The Enlightenment process should never end. According to “How Much Data Will Humans Create & Store This Year,” results have shown that the world’s information doubles every two years. Having information double itself every two years is an amazing achievement. Also according to Visual News’ How Much Data is Created Every Minute? In a matter of 60 minutes, the mobile web receives 217 new users, 517 new websites are created and Apple receives about 47,000 application downloads. Technology has made an incredible impact on my definition of an
