It is mentioned in the article that some individuals believe that with the past of time Mandarin Chinese will be the language that will be more spoken throughout the world. In my opinion, I believed that this statement is false because although the economy of China is growing, Chinese is a hard language to learn and it will be even harder to adapt a massive amount of people to master that language. I don’t think that a specific language will rule the world, Chinese will continue speaking Chinese, Mexicans will continue speaking Spanish, etc. Adapting to a new language can be very harsh because there are many factors to take into consideration. Language doesn’t not only exist in the way we speak, but also in the way we write. When learning a new language, grammar rules, writing formats, pronunciation, etc., have to be learned as well. The article mentions that different languages have different rules, “In Navajo there is no such thing as a regular verb. You have to learn by heart each variation of every verb. Plus it has tones.” People can in fact learn a new language but it will take a lot of effort and patience to master a naïve language.People tend to combine languages when they move to a foreign country. For example, when Mexicans come to the United States they somewhat adapt English into their language but tend to mix it with Spanish creating an invented language called “Spanglish” which is a mixture of English and Spanish.
