“There is an urgent need to stop subsidizing the fossil fuel industry, dramatically reduce wasted energy, and significantly shift our power supplies from oil, coal, and natural gas to wind, solar, geothermal, and other renewable energy sources.” (McKibben) The environmentalist has great points to invest in renewable energy and get rid of fossil fuels. The urgent need to invest in renewable energy is the upcoming energy crisis. This means that there will eventually be no more fossil fuels to sustain this earth. Meaning that the human race will need to find other means of powering the things that they love. According to John Browne, the expected rates of demand for oil and coal grow the human population has enough for thirty years supply. (Browne, J. (n.d.))This would mean that many of the people living on earth would run out of energy. But there is still time. The human race needs to ease off fossil fuels for it to have a chance. There is still time to find more energy efficient ways of doing day-to-day activities. Then the harmful effects of nuclear power and the inefficiency of solar power all points to wind power. This is why it is vital to start building wind turbines the best product for its space and there is no harmful energy storage as nuclear energy. Fossil fuels are the main source of energy throughout the United States. However, wind power affords a positive alternative to Minnesota’s future energy needs.
