The Enemy Virus

The Enemy, one of the most darkest young adult literature I have ever read. No matter what chapter I’m in, there’s always seems to be a zombie somewhere within the pages. If I were to use one word to describe this novel, it would be “gruesome.” Seriously, a mysterious virus that has no known cure to counter it turned all adults into child-eating zombies. Children and teens that aren’t over the age of 16 are immune to this virus for some reason. This takes place in England and the children have to survive through this living nightmare every single day. They built a fort to keep the “Grown-ups”, as they call them, away from them. At some point they need to send a few kids to get some supplies. It takes bravery to go out there in the wide open …show more content…
Assuming dead at this point, they gave up trying to save him. When they needed to get food, one of the children mentioned that there was a vending machine deep within a public swimming pool and when they got there to retrieve the jackpot, Grown-ups arrived and eventually, one of the children, Arran Harper, who I thought was the main character, got severely wounded. It got terribly infected that he actually died very early in the story, leaving Maxie, his second in command, the new leader. When a boy by the name of Jester arrives to their fort, he says he was sent by his leader David King that Buckingham Palace is a place of paradise and they have pictures to prove that. The children are having trouble finding food in the area they are living in, so they decided to pack things up and head off to Buckingham Palace. Meanwhile, Small Sam is still alive, in a sack, when he takes a peek, Grown-ups are already eating a kid they captured and killed prior to his capture. He waited until they fell asleep, and when they started to rest, he took that opportunity to try to escape. He managed to escape, just not quietly. When he managed to get to the fort, everyone was already gone then. He wasn’t there to hear about Buckingham Palace. The kids traveling to get to Buckingham Palace, and Small Sam trying to find his friends. They all must watch out for one thing, and that is

Course of Norovirus Infection Norovirus contaminations are commonly thought to be fleeting, going on for just a couple days; in any case, expanding proof focuses to delayed (or maybe tireless) diseases in a few situations. In spite of the fact that the side effects brought about by human norovirus disease normally resolve inside a few days, infection particles can be shed from asymptomatic people for a considerable length of time after presentation. Further, symptomatic disease has been recorded in immunosuppressed people with manifestations going on for more than 2 years and in immunocompetent youngsters with side effects going on for up to 6 weeks. Also, braid macaques contaminated with a human norovirus shed infection in their dung for no…

Parvovirus is a SS DNA virus, as stated in question it’s genome is either + or – strand. Their genome is linear, non segmented, and single- stranded DNA of about 5 KB. Most of the strand packaged into virions are – strand, but some parvoviruses package equal amounts of (+) and (-) strand. Parvovirus can’t become latent, since they are ssDNA and will be destroyed.…

Airborne viruses like measles should cause parents against vaccination to reconsider their stance. Airborne viruses can remain in the air for 2-3 hours after the infected person leaves the rom. To contract measles, one only needs to breathe the same air as an infected person, meaning measles is a highly infectious virus. If exposed, there is a 90% chance the unvaccinated person will contrast measles, with the most susceptible being children.…

Retroviruses are a group of viruses containing single stranded RNA genomes. ssRNA genomes require conversion to dsDNA in order to propagate. This conversion is accomplished after the enveloped viruses attaches to a specific receptor on the cell membrane of its host. Once attached the virus can enter the cell via fusion, their genomes uncoated and signals the start of replication. Viruses have three genes that enable their replication and spread; gag, pol and env.…

A very widely debated scientific dilemma that has been going on for years is whether or not viruses are alive. Although viruses do have a few characteristics of life, they do not have all of them, and they especially don’t have the most important ones. Throughout the case study there were great arguments for either side, and although it was a tough decision, I do not believe that viruses are alive. Viruses cannot metabolize energy and they are not made up of cells. One characteristic of life is energy processing, which is the need of living organisms to use energy in order to maintain order and carry out other characteristics of life.…

FPV is in the family Parvoviridae, which contains 26 species of virus that infect a broad host range, covering species from invertebrates to humans. Parvoviruses are small single stranded DNA viruses enveloped by a T=1 non-enveloped capsid protein. Replication of these viruses can only occur when the host cell is in S-phase of its mitotic cycle (15). FPV has a very small linear genome that is only 5 kilobases in length (4). The virus’s genome has specific sequences, similar to a TATA boxes, that initiate transcription of major virus specific mRNA.…

    Viruses A Living Thing

I believe viruses can be considered a living thing, but there are reasons for it not to be. One reason is, although it does have DNA, it technically does not have an organized body structure and DNA, because it is just DNA, or RNA. To be a living thing, it would need a body and DNA, but viruses do not have a body, they are just DNA or RNA coated in protein. They do not need a body to survive though, because they can do this with out one. Viruses do reproduce, but not like most living things.…
