“But here I am, and I can do a something here to stop injustice” (103). During the story Kari is protecting all the middle-staters even though it seems that she is just protecting David and his family. Kari protects all of them by not handing the drones over to Henderson and when she escapes she lets a lot of others out to escape. “Guess that last thought makes me a superhero” (103). Just like every other superhero story you have the good guy and the villian. Henderson acts bad guy in this story and Kari as the superhero. One can make this comparison as Kari is admired for her unusual talents and uses them to protect David and his family along with her own. Henderson, the bad guy, captures her and holds her hostage until she does what he asks of her. While using her incredible abilities she escapes to freedom with the others, saving them from the internment camps and prison
