Citizens in our society have become so obsessed with the ‘finish line’ that they forget to take their time and truly live. Willa Cather once said, “The end is nothing; the road is all.” This expresses her belief in the overall philosophy that you should appreciate the time you have and the way you spend it, rather than the way it ends up. For me, I don’t think there is anything more true.

This quote is the perfect way to summarize exactly how I feel about life and our experiences. The journey to greatness is a long and hard one but the longer and harder it is for you, the more rewarding the end product is. For me, this

Author of nonfiction book “The Spirit Catches You and You Fall”, Anne Fadiman relays the questions to her readers in her preface: “What makes a good parent?” and “What makes a good doctor?” As far as anyone is concerned for the latter question, specifically what makes outstanding health care, Carolyn M. Clancy, MD, of the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality would describe quality health care as simply “getting the right care to the right patient at the right time – every time” (). Furthermore, she dissects this simplistic description apart, providing a multilayered perspective. Essentially, the key to quality health care is its three basic dimensions: STRUCTURE, PROCESS, and OUTCOME” ().…

Authors when describing their characters can either be very exaggerated with their characters or actually make them seem unstated throughout the whole story. Sometimes two stories that have similar characters express their identities in completely different ways. This happens between the short stories “What You Pawn I Will Redeem” by Sherman Alexie and “Sonny’s Blues” by James Baldwin. The protagonist Jackson squared in “What You Pawn I Will Redeem” his identity is expressed in such a manner that you feel like the author wanted to display to the readers that this guy was no good. While the author for “Sonny’s Blues” kept his protagonist simple and let the story focus on Sonny and how the brother wanted to reconnect with Sonny.…

Willa Cather once said, “The end is nothing; the road is all.”. This quote means that the end of a journey is not as important as the journey itself. While it may seem that it is talking about traveling on road, the quote itself is metaphoric in that the road and a journey are being compared. Some may argue that this isn’t true, but I agree with the quote. I think Willa Cather’s quote is genuine and meaningful because of my own life experiences.…

This quote inspires me to endure any hardships I experience for two reasons: it reminds me that there could be more difficult events I could face, and that my reward for enduring it will be a meaningful life experience. Because everyone experiences hardships in life, I can look at this quote and be reassured that I am not the only one with a certain problem, but I am also convinced that many people live through more severe events and therefore I can definitely withstand whatever life may give me. When I look at this quote, I recall all my past troubles and, more importantly, what I learned from those. The quote is similar in message to the “hang in there!”…
