the end everything turns out good. The Pearl symbols beauty and wealth so anyone can get interested and attached to it as much as Kino did. Throughout the book, Kino changes about what is important about life as he copes by resolving his internal conflicts.
In the beginning of the book, the things that are important to Kino are: his family and his boat. “Sometimes it rose to an aching chord that caught the throat, saying this is safety, this is warmth this is the Whole”(Steinbeck , 3). Kino’s importance was his family. He felt happy and safe with his family which was Juana and Coyotito. Kino always heard the family song which Juana sang softly (an ancient song that had only three notes). “For a man with a boat can guarantee a woman that she will eat something( it was passed down). He took care of the canoe”(Steinbeck, 14). Kino’s canoe was something that was part of his family. He fished for a living. Kino’s canoe came from he’s grandfather to he’s dad to him. Kino fished for a living which meant he supported his family by fishing with his canoe. Kino has a loving family and a past-down canoe, but later on he will think wealth and he’s son education is more important so he will have to learn some life lessons to see the truth.
After kino finds the pearl, the things that are important to Kino change to wealth and Coyotito’s education. “We will have new clothes and get married in the church. He wanted a rifle. Coyotito will go to school” (Steinbeck, 24-25).…
