The Transatlantic slave trade could be seen as a result of the Encomienda system and its effect on the societies included. Both originally seemed to derive from Spain. The Encomienda system, similar to the transatlantic slave trade, had the goal of strengthening their economy without having to pay large amounts of money to do so. The Economies of the involved countries benefited from both the encomienda system and transatlantic slave trade because in both instances they were getting free labor. Meaning that more work was being done and those doing the work were getting paid nothing.
The Encomienda system caused great oppression of the natives in the same way the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade did. The effects of these events in history have resulted in inequality and discrimination for certain groups of people that can even be seen present-day.
