While reading The Elite, there were many events in which I could clearly see an image in my head. For instance, while reading “Huge stains in the carpet announced where someone, perhaps a helpless maid …show more content…
I feel this way due to him acting like an adversary towards America. There is clear evidence supporting this in the quote “You’re going to need to learn to hold your tongue. If not, you and I will be enemies. Trust me when I say that you do not want to be my enemy.” (Cass 321). This clearly shows that the King is a cruel man and that he doesn’t want anything to do with America. The King also has a conversation with America about how lovely the Queen, and then totally switches gears and tells America that she is nothing but ordinary. This quote shows that even though America did something extremely stupid, they still support her 100 percent. America’s maids also cried and cried when they thought about the possible demise of America. America was walking back to her room and heard Lucy balling down the hallway, and when she stood outside her room, she saw Anne and Mary sweeping up broken glass with red, puffy eyes. Her maids ran and gave America a hug as soon as they saw she was safe. Their worry over whether or not she was safe shows clear loyalty and care for America. “If she’s going to win, we need a plan.”(Cass 323) is a what Anne said as soon as America told then that she was going to fight for Maxon. This shows that the maids clearly want to help America win the competition. They way America’s maids want to help America clearly shows that they want to keep her around for
