Erik Erikson was a brilliant developmental psychologist and psychoanalyst. He grew up as a Jewish boy who was confused about his identity. Erikson wanted people to understand the stages of growth so they could understand why they do what they do. He created a theory that explains your growth from infancy to adulthood; the theory is called The Eight Stages of Psychosocial Development. Erikson truly believes people still have time grow even though the stages are only through adulthood.

I haven’t had a lot of relationships during my twenties, but during my adolescence I did have a few relationships. There are two main tasks I have to overcome: get my bachelors degree, so I can have a career instead of a job, and make enough money to be able to afford a wedding. As a teenager, I did not want to get married, but after dating my current girlfriend the last few years, I have changed my mind. Being married isn 't just to have a ring or a paper, but there are benefits and you get to spend it with the love of your life. We have spoken about getting married before, but we are both financially unstable to afford a wedding, let alone an engagement ring. With that said, my other task is being financially stable. It is difficult to get a stable job that doesn’t just pay hourly and low wage. It would definitely help if we both had jobs that paid us enough to live off of. We both currently work at Hannaford and I am hoping that if I can stay there long enough and show them that I am worth being promoted to the corporate side of the company then it will definitely help me financially. If I get promoted in the next year, then I can save enough money to be able to afford my own house and an engagement ring. My tasks are positive in nature because it is a task that everyone
