Video games diminish the ability to learn from good and bad because of violence. Children assume the best solution is to defeat the ‘enemy’ be killing or with other extreme means. In an early age, especially for children, it is important to promote a safe and friendly environment, so individuals can grow up positively. Compared to adults, teens and especially children are fragile to a changing environment, they are inclined to accept stereotypes and undesirable influences. Parents need to become self-aware of negative impacts teens and children occur with when playing video games. Role models such as parents are necessary in an individual’s life. They act as a direct filter in what their person in custody views, by increasing their knowledge …show more content…
When Adults and especially children are constantly shown provoking messages of discrimination it becomes embedded within their conscience, changing their attitude towards the specific groups. “Dietz analyzed 33 Sega games and found that almost 80% of the games contained violence, of which 20% was directed towards women characters” (Kondrat 172). When individuals mainly men, participate in playing these types of games they accept the idea that women are nothing more than mere sex objects who are fragile and will accept anything a man desires. Statistics indicate that out of 1789 surveyed only 273 lived with their spouse or partner (porter 123). When children grow up to become adults the rate they will commit offensive crimes towards women highly increases because of how they view women. Young men are not the only ones affected by sex stereotypes, women are affected eternally. In most video games “women are dressed in provocative clothing, which show their large breasts and long legs” kondrat 172).
