The effect teen pregnancy has on the mothers in substantial, from conception to life after birth. How do most cases of teen pregnancy occur? Adolescent females are likely to answer either out of “readiness” or peer pressure. In the case of “readiness”, we describe readiness as feeling as if you are mature enough to make the responsible decision to have sex, and understanding and accepting the responsibility of practicing safe sex, for not only you but for your partner as well. One the other hand teens describe their decision to have sex in their adolescents’ as a significant weight placed on them by their comrades. Either by the glamorization of sex, male initiation or stigma behind losing your virginity. “If I had to choose a better time for this to happen, trust me I would have, but it happened”, A 17 year old mother voiced as she described the situation she placed herself in. She admitted to being caught up into the world-win of teen pregnancy, with actresses such a Jamie-Lynn Spears becoming pregnant at 16 and the public applauding her decision to keep and raise the child, it’s easy to get her situation misconstrued. Many teens don’t realize the teen mom lives that are being depicted through reality shows such as Teen Mom and box off bestselling movies such as Juno that those teens are raising children in controlled environments and scripted drama, whereas real life teen moms are very unsure of day to day reality.
