Studies in UK shows figures that in 2013 the Internet was used in home in age related 33% of 3- 4 year old, 65% of 5-7 year olds, 83% of 8-11 year olds and 92% of 12-15 year olds. In addition, around half of 5-15 year olds own a mobile phone, 3% of 5-7 year olds, 33% of 8- 11year olds, and 82% of 12-15 year olds. A popular device among them was a smart phone, and it is rising to 62% between 12-15 year olds. Firstly, identity formation that means teens tend and try to be in various identities and get different names in virtual world. For example, when kids and teenagers play video games, they can name themselves any name and create different personalities which lead the world of digital changes “this developmental task of identity formation”(Ives, 30). Secondly, decision making is developing in adolescence, so it is the time to develop their pre- frontal cortex and educating decision making. However, with technology, children and teenagers are learning from virtual worlds such as Facebook, chatting online, and social media, this means they are not communicating and interacting as much with people in real life to see them how they can make good decisions. In addition, when they are posting anything on websites or social media, they can not see the reality of people’s reactions and behaviors which it do not let them to feel empathy because they do not see the direct effects of people’s behaviors (Ives, 2012).
