From the time I get up in the morning until the time I go to sleep, I am engulfed in the wave of technology. My alarm clock from my cell phone wakes me. On my drive to school, I sync my phone to the radio so that I can listen to music and answer a call if I get one. Once I arrive to school, my first period teacher instructs me to go to the computer lab t to type and share a paper vial google docs. Second period, my math teacher gives us more operations to put into our calculators. Third period, my history teacher takes us on an adventure using his smart board. Fourth period, I can hardly wait to get into the driving assimilation. Fifth period, my dance teacher shares a new routine via skype. When I leave school and go to my part-time …show more content…
Teachers are suppose to be able to talk to their students instead of having to email them. In my opinion the student and teacher relationship has gone down the drain. Before email and skype, when students would to get into trouble, the parent would have to come to the school to have a face to face parent teacher conference. Now since technology has changed, the parent or teacher will just email each other to discuss the child. Without the face to face interaction, many times words can construed or taken the wrong way. Miscommunications happen more often because there are only words to read, not facial expression and tone to accompany a teacher’s concern. HACKING IS ONE AFFECT. People can hack into someone’s personal information online. EXPLOITATION OF MINORS IS ANOTHER ONE. There has been cases of minors having access to inappropriate content online. The internet is full of disproportionate items. The internet is mostly made up of adult content that is inappropriate for children. Anyone can have access to a computer device. There is access to the internet at school, home, the library, and even over a friends house. I child may not know it but there are a plethora of inappropriate sites on the internet. James Fallows says in his article that “No doubt technology is also changing our behavior in ways we ourselves may not be aware of but that are obvious to outsiders.” CYBERBULLYING IS ANOTHER EFFECT. . Cyberbullying is bullying done over the internet. Cyberbullying is one of the most popular ways that you could hurt someone. Many people have taken their own lives because of cyber bullying. There have been many cases of people having jail time because of a few hurtful words that he or she said over the internet. This is one of the most dangerous things that a person can do to someone.
