The Gale Encyclopedia of Mental Health defines stress as the term that refers to the sum of the physical, mental, and emotional strains or tensions on a person. Feelings of stress in humans result from interactions”. There are two type of stress “positive’ and “negative” stress. Positive stress could be something like the interception of a new child or something we really look forward to. Many people are more familiar with negative stress. When we hear the word stress it’s not corresponded with being positive. Negative stress is the reaction to a crisis or a certain event that we can’t seem to cope with and it usually has an effect on our lives. Negative stress is our reaction to something that we are not ready for “unplanned event”. Stress is one of the most underlying reasons for health problems. Stress is the result of many illnesses, involving the body and the mind. …show more content…
I know for a fact that I get myself really sick by siting around and worrying about things I can’t control. Would I like to control any and every situation in my life? Yes, but that is not how this wonderful world works. “It is a known fact for people to experience some type of depressive mood or feeling in relation to stress. An excessive amount of stress has been shown to contribute to depression or anxiety”. Stress many times can cause insomnia. Insomnia keeps people up at night due to worrying or anxiety. This sometimes can occur with positive stress, in which you are so excited that you can night sleep the night before a big event but this is temporary. It is important not to think of stressful thing when we are ready to sleep. I know when I am stress I never can go to sleep because my mind is wondering. This causes me not to function in my everyday
