Admittedly, I have never lived a healthy life. College can be stressful for students. I believe that stress has caused me to turn to food, sugary drinks, and TV every day. There are many health behavior changes that I would love to change, but the one health behavior change that I choose is that I want to start being more physically active. I want to incorporate a good exercise routine into my life every day so I can become a healthier woman.
I want to improve my physical health and emotional health. I used to be a soccer player, so I was active every day. I used to be able to run around my backyard almost ten times. Running is not something that I am good at anymore due to my poor health behaviors. I get out of breath every time I walk down to the mailbox. I know it’s common for people to have something they don’t like about themselves, but I don’t like how I am out of shape and overweight. I have heard before that exercising can reduce stress and make you happier. Regretfully, I can’t remember the last time I exercised.
Everyone has to start at the bottom and work their way up. I am going to set short and long term goals to keep myself motivated throughout this journey. I know that I won’t be able to do a lot at once, so I am going to start small. Starting today, I am going to at least go for walks. By the end of the day, I want my total walking time to at least be fifteen minutes a day, twice a week, until May 16th. I found an app on my phone that will count my steps…
