Today college students are experiencing more stress than previous decades and an increased workload. (“A Student 's Guide to Balancing Stress,”). Students may feel pressure from their parents, classmates, and teachers. They even feel pressure among themselves because they are expected to do well in school, maintain their academic grades and meet deadlines. College is very stressful, in fact stress can be one of the main problems college students have. Stress is very harmful when it’s excessive, but stress can be helpful and stimulating (“Stress and College Students,”). Stress can have a positive effect because it challenges students to meet their goals but the problem comes when they experience too much stress. It can affect their mood, ability to experience pleasure, and physical health (Holinka). It’s critical that students and colleges address this problem. I think the most effective way for students to manage their stress is having the emotional support from friends and family and a healthy lifestyle such as exercising, eating healthy, and getting enough sleep. Colleges should also inform students more about their resources such as, teachers, Supplemental Instruction sessions (S.I), counselors, and the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE).
First we should get help from our loved ones because stress can lead to serious emotional problems, for example stress can give: depression, anger, fear, anxiety, loneliness, unhappiness, and helplessness (“A Student 's Guide to…
