Some level two interventions would be to pre-teach vocabulary, provide many opportunities to use oral language throughout the day, consciously scaffold new vocabulary, use more visuals, promote peer interactions and group work, and teach communication skills to replace challenging behavior. Level three interventions are based on the individual child 's need but could be using sign language, providing short, direct sentences with functional vocabulary, and learning to use interventions provided by the SLP, such as augmentative communication systems like communication boards, Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS), or electronic devices that can speak responses. There are many services and agencies within the state of Washington to help support the family and child with speech or language impairment. Early Life Speech and Language offers individualized and intensive speech therapy for children 2-7 (Early Life Speech & Language, (n.d.). In addition, they also offer many free parent education classes and work closely with parents, caregivers, and other familial supports to ensure skills are being taught and enforced at home. In terms of speech or language impairments, the constantly evolving technologies of today’s world can provide more support, especially to those who suffer from severe speech or language impairments. There will, however, always remain a need for human interaction when it comes to communication disorders and speech and language pathologist have many skills to offer. Teaching, communication, and working with children with disabilities all comes down to creating positive, nurturing relationships to foster growth, motivate, and inspire
